It would be wrong of me not to share a couple of cocktail recipes during my 12 days of Christmas feature. So I created a dragon fruit bourbon martini. It’s perfect for the holidays. It’s sweet, sour and nicely blended to a creamy consistency. So good
Dragon fruit bourbon martinis give that comfort factor, its a mix of fresh dragon fruit, lime, simple syrup, apple cider and bourbon. A really nice combination of ingredients that make you feel at home, whether you are or not. So be careful!
The dragon fruit is from the cactus family, and hails from Mexico and/or Central America – I’m not sure, so don’t quote me. Once you cut the dragon fruit in half, it reveals white flesh dotted with black seeds. It looks rather odd, but tastes quite refreshing. If you haven’t eaten dragon fruit as yet, you should give it a try, it’ nice.
This cocktail, should be made and serve immediately, as all fresh fruit cocktails should. If you allow to sit for a few hours, the color of the fruit will turn and become murky. Not a good look for a cocktail – right?
Dragon fruit bourbon martinis are innovative in appearance, and will definitely peek the interest of anyone you serve them to. If you enjoy bourbon in a cocktail format, this one will be a winner for you – give it a try and share with your friends.
