A passionfruit blackberry bourbon cocktail is a wonderfully refreshing cocktail ideal for the summer, and perfect for bourbon lovers. It’s a subtle smokey yet very fruity combination of flavors that leaves you wanting more.
Fresh blackberries are essential for this cocktail. You want them to be firm and sweet to the bite. Frozen blackberries will become mushy once defrosted and therefore not ideal.
Grated fresh ginger, passionfruit juice and agave, if needed, are the balance of ingredients and what make this cocktail simply luscious.
I used Ceres passionfruit juice. Ceres juices are great for cocktails. Avoid the puréed kinds, they will provide a very different texture than what should be a light and very sippable drink.
A little tipple of bourbon is just what the doctor ordered. It’s a true hit for me when mixed with blackberries. There’s just something wonderful about that combination, it feels very grown up I think. Picture me twirling my glass, ice rocks clanking and slowly melting as this passionfruit blackberry bourbon cocktail washes over them. Ooh delightful!
I shared this cocktail with my niece, Jasmine and she immediately informed me to get to making another batch. If you share this recipe with your friends and family, they will do the same, so make sure to have plenty ingredients.
With that in mind, there is no need to go for an expensive bourbon, something classic will do. If you are going to be making many batches of this passionfruit blackberry bourbon cocktail there is no need to break the bank to keep your guests happy.
The smokey flavor from the bourbon is masked, just a little, by the passionfruit juice, making this passionfruit blackberry bourbon cocktail an easy drinker. Take your time to enjoy the flavors and sip slowly, otherwise you might find yourself sinking down the sofa – oopses!
