Have you tried Golden Milk? It’s delicious!

Golden Milk by Diverse Dinners

I prefer Golden Milk made with oat milk or almond milk, fresh turmeric, fresh ginger, allspice and maple syrup. That’s all you need to make this delicious warm beverage which is comfort-inducing as well as filled with health benefits.

Curcumin, the active ingredient in turmeric, is filled with anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antioxidant and antibacterial properties. It is purported to relieve and avoid many ailments, see the list below.

Reduces joint pain.
Slows the build up of plaque in the arteries, thus lessens the likelihood of heart problems.
Regulates blood sugar.
Protects against cancer.
Improves gut health and soothes stomach irritations.
Protects the liver.
A natural anti-depressant and mind-sharpner

Golden Milk is a great pick me up and can be enjoyed anytime, day or night, but I prefer it at night. After a vibrant shower, and a good 20 minutes indulging in what many would insist is an excessive amount of moisturizers, creams and oils, I sashay to the kitchen and make a small batch of Golden Milk.

What’s great about this recipe is that you can substitute all of the ingredients and use what you have available at home. If you cannot get your hands on fresh turmeric and ginger you can use ground powdered versions. However, you will have to lessen the quantities as the powdered versions are more potent. Divide quantities by three and you should find the right balance, but I caution you to taste as you go, as powdered versions can vary in intensity dependent upon on the brand.

You can use any milk or sweetener, whichever you prefer, and if you cannot get your hands on allspice, black pepper is a great alternative.

This recipe is enough for two, but you can double and triple ingredients to make enough for friends and family. Or make it an after dinner drink and serve warm in shot glasses. Your guests will love it!
