Baked apple chips are a great snack to satiate your sweet tooth and so easy to make. Simply slice apples as thin as you can, lay them out on a parchment paper lined baking tray or cookie sheet, place in the oven, and bingo bango, you’ll get these wonderful babies.
For me, baked apple chips are a great alternative to cookies and chocolate at those times when I need a sugar fix. I also like to add them to salads and soups, see my spinach soup recipe, its delicious.
Years ago the thought of baked apple chips would’ve rendered me icky-faced, it’s so strange how the taste buds change as we gather years. Maybe I’ve matured, as now I seek out a more nutrient rich diet than years before.
Don’t make these baked apple chips in abundance though, naturally baked apple chips have a shorter shelf life than those made in a commercial environment. So I suggest you make them in modest batches, and gobble them up within 48 hours. As soon as I’ve found a storage solution that keeps these baked apple chips nice and crispy for a long period of time, I’ll be sure to update you.
I do hope you give this recipe a try, use your favorite ripe apples, and you will be hooked. Pop a handful in a ziploc bag and add them to your children’s lunch. What makes these baked apple chips great is that they’re perfect for snack time, for anyone at any age.
