Today’s recipe is a Black Whiskey Mac. An avant-garde version of a very traditional cocktail.

Whiskey Mac is a mixture of whiskey and ginger wine, this Black Whiskey Mac, is quite different. It’s a mixture of honey bourbon, vanilla vodka, ginger wine, food grade activated charcoal and bitters. A serious blend of blackened liquors, just in time for Halloween.

Paloma Cocktail

It’s Cinco de Mayo, so how about a Paloma cocktail? In Mexico, Palomas are usually a combination of tequila and grapefruit soda. In the US grapefruit soda is often replaced with fresh grapefruit juice either with or without club soda. 

That’s the recipe for today folks, tequila, simple syrup, grapefruit juice, lime juice topped with club soda. This is a very refreshing cocktail, ideally served in a champagne flute. I used stemless champagne flutes, something I like to do when serving a sparkling drink with no wine in it.

Thyme Tequila Fizz

The weather in New York this weekend has been mostly overcast with spates of rain. No grilling for me this weekend, so I put my desires of grilled salmon on cedar plank on hold and cheered myself up by creating a new cocktail – thyme tequila fizz. She’s wonderful! A sensational thyme-infused tequila based cocktail topped with cava.
