Port balsamic red onion jam and brie canapés is a great dish to serve for the holidays. If you’re hosting a party, these can be ready to serve as soon as your guests walk through the door.
Once you’ve created the red onion jam, the rest is very easy. Other than red onions, the jam is made with honey, port, thyme and balsamic vinegar. This wonderful combination is the crowning glory on top of a sliced baguette and triple creme brie.
This is such a yummy combination. The sweetness of the jam balances out the rich soft cheese, and the crusty bread is the perfect base for such an indulgent combination.
I love, love, love brie, especially triple creme brie, it’s my Saturday night indulgence when I’m home alone and have a good bottle of red wine available.
Port balsamic red onion jam and brie canapés pair really well with either red wine or champagne, or a champagne cocktail. Nothing too complex though otherwise you will mask the flavor of the brie, which would be a travesty.
Are you hosting a New Year’s Eve party? Port balsamic red onion jam and brie canapés would be a nice addition to your menu. You can make the red onion jam well in advance which will allow you to concentrate on other more complex dishes.
Give this recipe a try the next time you have a crowd come to visit. You need to allow approx. 2-3 canapés per person, that’s it. This dish should be savored, it is a rich cocktail bite and should be served sparingly.
