Almost everyone I speak with is doing their best to become fitter and healthier, and looking for meals and juices that help them reach their goals and increase their well-being. A detox juice is a smart way to help with well-being. So I worked on a recipe using turmeric, a great all-round healer, to create a daily detox juice. Here it is, Blood Orange Carrot Turmeric Detox Juice.

Turmeric in a detox juice is truly marvelous, the aim is to get as much curcumin, the active ingredient in turmeric, into the body. However, it is important to note that curcumin needs help so that it can be absorbed by the body. My research tells me that either citrus or black pepper helps with absorption, so, I included both in this Juice.

A cold press juicer is the ideal tool to create this juice, the juicer will do as it says and press the ingredients to create the juice, rather than spinning them into a heated frenzy, likely minimizing the effects of the ingredients.

Raw Turmeric Root

To create this wonderful Blood Orange Carrot Turmeric Detox Juice, all of your ingredients should be whole, fresh and raw, including the turmeric. You should be able to find turmeric root in a store near you, you can also buy online.

The benefits of adding this juice to your regimen is extensive, as the curcumin in turmeric is purported to aid many ailments:

  • Joint pain
  • Slows the build up of plaque in the arteries
  • Evidence of anti-cancer activities
  • Protects the liver
  • Can regulate blood sugar levels
  • A natural anti-depressant or mind-sharpner

If you find it difficult to get your hands on turmeric root, you can use powdered turmeric. However, dried turmeric will provide a lower percentage of curcumin compared to raw turmeric. Dried turmeric may also include fillers, and additives which provide zero health benefits.

I really enjoyed this Blood Orange Carrot Turmeric Detox Juice. After just a few mouthfuls, I felt a new pep in my step that wasn’t there before. Give it a try and see if it does the same for you.
