Easter is on its way. If you observe Easter, perhaps you’re planning a meal for your loved ones. Ham is always a crowd pleaser, it’s rich with flavors and there’s always so much of it. Today’s recipe, is not the usual pre-cooked ham that requires little effort to get it onto your family’s plate. This recipe is baked fresh boneless ham. No curing, smoking, or salting has taken place, you have to apply the flavors, and make this dish your own. Now don’t be scared – it’s a lot of fun!
Pork milanese served with a simple salad is a great meal anytime. I like it for lunch or brunch, it also makes for a nice light evening meal.
I am exhausted. I have been so busy, I’ve barely had time to relax and enjoy a good meal. I’ve endured mediocre take out meals for the entire week, and by Thursday, my digestive system was completely shot. I promised myself that Sunday would be the day I would eat something from my own kitchen, a meal that was tasty but that was quick to make so that I could rest and relax a little more. Oh, and something that didn’t come out of a plastic container. That meal was spicy crusted cod – delicious.
I really enjoyed cooking today’s recipe, one of my favs, chicken curry. I love chicken curry because its so flavorful and tasty. It’s a real crowd pleaser for those spicy lovers in your life, its relatively easy to put together, and the final result is epic.
I love oatmeal but sadly it doesn’t love me so much. A bowl of oatmeal gives me major heartburn, it’s so frustrating. It doesn’t matter what base I use to make my oatmeal – water, milk, almond milk, after every bowl I get that familiar burning in my chest, it sucks. To find relief I have to chug down antacids, otherwise hours pass before I get relief. Hence today’s recipe, coconut oatmeal. It is 1 part oats to 1 part dried coconut chips, and a saving grace to my digestive system.
On my quest for a more disciplined life, I’ve injected a twice weekly detox juice into my diet. A juice that helps release the toxins from my body and also work on my wavering digestive system. Strangely, this juice derived from a request from my friend Trevor, for a ginger cucumber juice with pimento. He wanted me to make him a sweet and spicy concoction with a mound of sugar. Don’t worry I resisted, I just couldn’t create a sickly sweet drink and hail it as a juice that provides benefit to the body. So here’s what I ended up with, a ginger cucumber apple detox juice. It is exactly what I need, a gloriously tasty juice that aids the body, hopefully Trevor will love it too.
Today’s recipe is a quick and easy, a have anytime dish – tuna and kale quiche. I’ve made this quiche so many times; I think I’ve made it close to ten times in the last three months. My friends love it, they start to hover over it as soon as I remove it from the oven. It’s great anytime, so it doesn’t really last very long.
A food blogger needs discipline. There’s much to do every day to make a food blog a success. A plan is necessary, a program of some sort to build audience. A food blogger has to keep at it, regularly, to see the fruits of their labor. My blog has really helped me conquer some of my issues with discipline, but I still have much to do. Hence today’s post – Disciplined Journey to Accomplished Food Blogger.
Discipline has never been my strong suit, I think that’s why I prefer to cook savory foods rather than sweet. Most great meat or vegetable dishes do not require precise measuring of ingredients, but desserts are a much different animal, the slightest adaptation to a recipe can render your dish a failure. Check out my attempt at mini cheesecakes.
Sometimes there is nothing better than a pile of food placed upon your dinner plate. Something you can really feast your eyes on and relish its gastronomic possibilities. When you need something to really tuck into come dinner time, I suggest you make skirt steak pile up. What is that you ask? Well it’s skirt steak underweight of sweet potato shoestring fries and buttermilk fried onions.
