Miso marinated salmon is a simple dish, an ideal weeknight meal. Just combine the five ingredients, allow the salmon to marinate overnight, pop it in the oven for 30-40 mins – et voila!
Blog Life Week 36
It is so sad to see folks in Dominica struggle to get back on their feet after tropical Storm Erika. The storm damaged the infrastructure of the island. Roads and bridges were devastated, people lost their homes, and sadly others lost their lives. Both my mother and father are from Dominica, and its a place I call home too, so I’m doing my best to help from afar by contributing to relief efforts. If you can help too that would be great. Lump Crab and Guacamole Martini
Let’s celebrate with a martini, a lump crab and guacamole martini. My family and friends truly love guacamole, the only way you could improve on it for them would be to top it with jumbo lump crab, so thats what I did!
Apple Crumble
I think apple crumble was the first thing I cooked in high school. I had a class called Home Economics, where we were taught not only how to cook, but how to run a home. Very provincial – right? Nonetheless, I was taught well. My apple crumble is a thing of beauty. This baby will melt in your mouth, but not before alerting all your other senses to take note and enjoy!
Blog Life Week 35
Let me preface this post by declaring that I am exhausted! I have attended so many events, parties and dinners this summer.
New York winters can be brutal as you know, so I make sure to get out and enjoy what the city has to offer during the warm months. The sun has really played its part this year, New York has had so many beautiful days and warm breezy evenings, so it has been a pleasure to saunter around the city having a bite here and a drink there, shaking my hips to the beat over there and socializing with folks here and there.Read More
Spicy Margarita
Margaritas have become my drink of choice while socializing this summer, and I’ve developed a penchant for a slightly spicy margarita, only slightly spicy though, nothing too serious. My niece on the other hand loves them as spicy as you care to make them. I guess it must be the age difference. Really spicy margaritas give me major heart burn. I just don’t have the constitution anymore.
My recent “Blog Life” post lists the top six bars and restaurants of our choice where a spicy margarita, and smoky margarita can be had, so check it out. But if like me, you enjoy socializing at home you should try my recipe. It packs a big punch, so make sure to fill your glass with lots and lots of ice and sip, sip, sip!
Blog Life Week 34

Petite Filet with Baked Figs
It’s Sunday Supper time, and I am chowing down on petite filet with baked figs. This is a simple recipe, the petite filet is seasoned and then grilled and then topped with baked figs and accompanied sauce. This is so tasty, the robust flavors of the meat and the lip smacking sweet and savory fig sauce is a winner, share this one with those who you love, and they’ll love you right back.
Bacon Eggs and Beans in a Bagel Basket
I’m going back to my roots. My British roots that is, so I’ve prepared a typically British breakfast, but with a twist – bacon eggs and beans in a bagel basket. The twist being the bagel basket of course.
Blog Life Week 32
This week was less blog life and more cute chubby mouse on a wheel. No new experiences, no lessons learned, but I did find solace in some music. I downloaded a couple oldies by Rose Royce – Love Don’t Live Here Anymore and Wishing on a Star; a rather haunting song by Lapsley – Falling Short; and finally, Jill Scott’s new album, Woman. My favorite song on the album right now is Can’t Wait. Anyone know the sampled backing track? I’ve googled the heck out of it and searched the producer’s Twitter and Instagram pages but to no avail. It’s driving me nuts! I know it, I can almost sing, I just need the opening line. Please help ease my pain.
